What We Offer You

Training and Workshops
Our training sessions and hands-on workshops equip leaders, teams, schools, and communities to engage racial challenges with honesty, respect, and purpose. We move beyond conversation by offering practical tools to recognize bias, build trust, deepen awareness, strengthen relationships, and turn reflection into meaningful action. Each session is designed to help participants practice courageous dialogue and take clear, actionable steps toward lasting change.

Consultation Services and Presentation
We consult with for profit and nonprofit entities who seek to build dynamic teams across the racial divide. Our presentations are filled with historical realities that spark dialogue and reflection. We draw from our lived experience, historical data, and research giving voice to stories needing to be told. We connect by inviting all to connect, question, and consider fresh perspectives on America’s racial history.

Commentary and Resources
We highlight educational resources for teachers, librarians, parents, and others, and we spotlight timely articles and commentary that expose how race-based injustice continues to shape lives, communities, and institutions in America. By connecting readers to these resources, we invite deeper understanding, honest reflection, and meaningful action. Our goal is to help shift minds, reform hearts, and open a clearer path toward justice, healing, and a brighter future for all.

Two Voices, One Journey
Start Here America is an educational resource founded by Ms. Bob-e Simpson Epps and Dr. Sue Kiefer Hammersmith. Together, we bring academic expertise and lived experience to conversations about systemic racism in the USA. Our mission is to promote dialogue and learning about America’s racial system, to increase leadership and communication skills, and to improve teamwork and effectiveness. We explore the racialization of American spaces, people, and institutions; how systemic racism impacts everyday life; and how to negotiate cultural differences.
The power of our story lies in our dialogue. We share a common goal, but we bring very different experiences, family stories, and perspectives to the table. We are multicultural America, and you are part of that diversity, regardless of your skin tone or family heritage. Please join us on this journey to create a better tomorrow.
